Happy holidays thespians! Winter break is upon us! After a semester full of hard work and a lot of dedication, we’ve made it to the end. We have been able to successfully pull off a frightening theatre ¾ show, a dramatic fall play and a hilarious improv show. Not that I doubted us though, I always knew we could do it.
We just finished up auditions for the spring musical as our board chair, Reese Hill, mentioned in the last blog post and it was definitely a crazy week. We had kids that were virtual (me included) and of course all of the rules set in place to keep us all safe but created a lot of barriers. Auditions looked different this year, but I feel like we all learned and grew from it. I’m excited for this show and all of the talented actors and actresses in it!

This week we also had our first completely in person thespian meeting! It was fun seeing everyone and being able to speak to a group instead of just the computer. Another thing we have going on is a lot of community service opportunities! At the thespian meeting, we made and signed some Christmas cards for the Norterre Living Center! If you didn’t know we worked with them a little bit last year with our improv team traveling to the center and preforming for them well as them coming to OP to watch last year’s musical, “Mamma Mia”! We also wrote thank you cards to St. Luke’s Hospital for the first responders, doctors, nurses and any other staff working during the pandemic. An additional philanthropic activity we have going on is Adopt-A-Family. This is an organization that gives low-income families an opportunity to get gifts for their loved ones this holiday season. They usually accept gift donations, but this year they’re only accepting gift cards. The gift cards are only for general stores like Target, Walmart, Price Chopper, dollar stores, just nothing with specific stores like clothing stores or restaurants. With all of the support the community has given us, it’s time for us to give back to them! We raised a whopping $160 for Adopt-a-Family! |
Speaking of support from the community, we have some restaurant fundraisers coming up so make sure you’re checking our social media for updates on those. And thank you to everyone who donated to the Donor’s Choose fundraiser! We were able to fund UV wands, storage bins, script shelves, batteries, multiple costumes for the musical, and walkies for our crew! We are all so thankful for everyone who donated so we could get all of these cool supplies to make our shows safer and more sufficient. With the holidays coming up I hope all of you stay healthy and happy and that your holidays are filled with joy! See you next year! Madi The Baddie |
