Radiating with Joy!

Hey, I’m Madi Wells, your social outreach chair on thespian board! We are currently continuing rehearsals for our fall play, “Radium Girls” this week and it’s going amazing! It’s so great seeing new and old faces on stage and being able to work with so much talent. Even though it is still only the beginning of rehearsals, I can already see the show being so good and the chemistry of our cast is improving every rehearsal. If you weren’t aware, a really fun aspect of the show is that most of the actors play multiple different characters. This is such a cool opportunity to be creative not only for the actors, but also for our costume and makeup crew. Our makeup crew head (Lily Dickson) has already shown me so many unique ideas on how to portray all of the characters just by hair and makeup, and I already know our costume crew head (Emily Morrison) already has some awesome stuff planned.

We are encouraging and continuing to social distance, frequently wash hands and wear our masks at all times at rehearsal as well as health check-ins before every rehearsal. It makes me feel safer knowing everyone is being monitored and our directors are kept aware of everything.

I can’t even explain how happy I am to be back on that stage (even if it looks different) and to welcome new people who are starting their journey in our department! The amount of new people in the show makes me so excited. They always brighten my day with their optimism and I’ve already started to see some of them grow and become more confident in their abilities. We have such a dedicated group of newbies this year and I love to see it! The future of this department is definitely so bright and I’m so happy to be a part of it.

Yours Truly,
Madi the Baddie
