ROUNDING OUT THE YEAR

4/14/2021

Hello thespians, it’s Nick again with another short update on Oak Park’s upcoming shows, and other events. However, as this year is slowly coming to close, we’re starting to wind down on activity a little bit, but there’s still plenty of exciting things happening around here!
First off, we have an upcoming special projects show, written and directed by our very own Kaleighan Chastain! Her show is called, “The Scars That Made Us,” and rehearsals for this show have been happening for a couple months now, but now the show is going full force! As actors are beginning to perform without scripts, and tech elements are rapidly introduced, the show is really starting to grow, and form its identity. We hope the show will be a great success and inspire other students to take risks like Kaleighan and write their own shows as well!

Second, our Theatre ¾ students have written and casted their one acts, some have even started their rehearsals as well! All of our one acts are 10–15-minute shows that are both student written and directed! They’re a great way for the writers to express their creativity, but also for the actors as well, as one acts are definitely the easiest way to join theatre, and they’re definitely a ton of fun too! Rehearsals for all one acts will be run throughout the entirety of April.

Lastly, I have some important information for the students of Oak Park Theatre, our Freddy’s fundraiser night will be on April 13th from 5 PM to 9 PM, and applications for our thespian board have been released! You can find the applications on this same website. Being on Thespian Board is a great way to demonstrate your leadership skills, and show what you can really do, plus of you’re on board, you get to write your own blogs!

Well that about wraps it up for this week’s blog, hope you guys learned something new or useful!

There are no more puns to make about funds,

Nick Begley.
