Good morning, afternoon or evening, Thespians! (Whenever you’re reading this, really.) I’m so glad that you’re here - whether this be your sixth time checking in and reading the blogs, your first, or anywhere in between! This is my second blog post of the school year, and if you scroll down just a little more, you’ll see some other amazing blog posts from the rest of our wonderful board!
Compared to the beginning of the school year, it really seems that everyone is starting to adjust better into the school year. I know that I definitely am, but will still admit that sometimes I get overwhelmed with everything. But I keep reminding myself that it’s just a part of life, and I know I’m not the only one who feels this way sometimes. When I wrote my last blog, Theatre productions hadn’t really started yet. But let me tell you, they sure are in full swing now! Lots of exciting things are happening in the department, and I couldn’t be more excited.
A few weeks ago, Theatre 3/4 had their auditions for the upcoming recruitment show in December, and the TFAC show in February. This week in class, we finished the read through of our TFAC show, “The Yellow Boat.” I’m just gonna say, I TOTALLY did not cry at the end. Haha, nope, not me… but it is an incredible story and I can’t wait to see it on stage. From what I hear, “10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse” will also be an incredible show. I am SO excited to be working alongside Lily Dickson for this show with makeup. We have some great designs already and I know Lily is excited to finally get to do some gory makeup.

Alongside all the exciting things in 3/4, after school theatre is hipping and hopping, as well. Just last Thursday, our improv team, “The Last Minute Replacements” had their first improv show. It was such a success! While it was stressful at points, with trying to find times to rehearse and things like that, everyone on the team really put forth their best effort to make the show go on! I am SO incredibly proud of this team. Like being able to put on a show of that quality with only three rehearsals!?! Absolutely insane. And I cannot wait to see where this team goes with even more rehearsals and what the next show, and the parody has in store. Also a HUGE shout out to our amazing activities director, Mr. Valadez for allowing us to have two tickets per team member! That was such an awesome surprise, and everyone in the department is so grateful for that, AND thank you in advance for allowing it to happen again for our fall play. |
Radium Girls is also underway, and the show is in about two weeks! AHH! Which just seems absolutely crazy to me because it feels like we just started. But, it’s really coming together and every single day I see improvements in different aspects. I always get most excited for when we start adding in the tech elements (even though tech week is sTrEsSfUl!!) because it’s when the show really starts to come alive.
This week we also had our second Thespian Meeting of the year, where we updated the troupe on info, voted on our shirts (which will be Jade Dome), and talked about Thescon! Make sure to get those payments in, and if you have ANY questions please reach out to Mr. Ashpaugh. And like always, if you need anything I am here. I am SO proud of everyone’s work so far across the Theatre Department. We are truly showing everyone that the show MUST and CAN go on! With Love, Your Board Chair Extraordinaire, Reese Hill |
