Good morning, afternoon, evening, or whatever time you’re reading this. Welcome back to our weekly blog, Thespians! I’m so glad that you decided to pop in and catch up on some more theatre news for the week. And believe me, there is plenty of it!
To start off, Yellow Boat is in FULL swing. I think I said that in my last blog, but like, Yellow Boat is really in full swing now. With the production being next week (OMG!), the final details are all finally starting to come together on this amazing show. This week has been tech week, and we’ve been slowly but surely incorporating tech aspects such as lighting (which adds another level onto the emotion and feeling of the show), finalizing the details of set (which looks really good with all the colors and shapes), props (featuring my kazoos and noise maker necklace, thank you Olivia Z!), and much more!
TFAC is really coming together, and each day I’ve seen more and more improvement in different aspects, whether that be tech, acting, or somewhere in between. Students in ¾ are really putting their efforts and dedicating a lot of hard work to make this show something special. This year with TFAC, as well, the department is asking for money donations so that we can buy coloring books, crayons, and toys for children in the Children's Mercy Hospital. There is a tin where you can drop off the donations in the Green Room. Money donations will be collected until the Saturday of the TFAC performance. And like always with TFAC, there will be a silent auction with lots of amazing things to bid on, and this year it will be online! So, pull out those credit and debit cards and be prepared to place your bids!
Alongside The Yellow Boat happening February 25th-27th @ 7 pm, there are some other dates to write on those planners and keep in mind! Like the upcoming rescheduled Thespian Meeting on February 23rd, the Improv Show on March 11th @ 7 pm, Into the Woods on March 18th-20th @ 7 pm, and One Act Auditions the week of March 22nd - 26th (more details to come).

Into the woods is well underway, and it’s hard to believe that show is in less than a month! Costumes are getting their final details, the set is starting to go up, tech elements are being perfected, and actors are starting run throughs completely off book! These next three weeks will go by in a flash - a stressful, busy, exciting flash. Like Madi said in her blog a few weeks ago, it’s really important to take care of yourself during these times. It’s easy to get lost in the chaos and let all the stress & worries affect you in a multitude of ways. It’s important to remember who you are and why you choose to put yourself in these places and dedicate yourself and time to this art. |
I hope that these busy upcoming weeks go good for each one of you. With so much craziness happening in the world right now, it's easy to feel like there’s no sense of control. But keep pushing forward and pursuing all the amazing things you’ve been doing. Whoever is on the other side of that screen right now, know that you are capable of so much good and so many things. A bad day or even a couple of bad weeks doesn’t define who you are or where you are heading. Keep on keepin’ on, because in the blink of an eye the school year will end, and we’ll be celebrating all the amazing things we’ve accomplished at banquet. And like always, if you need anyone to talk to, my door is always open. With love always, Your Board Chair Extraordinaire, Reese Hill |
