Hello, Esteemed Theatre Enthusiasts!
I don’t know about you guys, but my days have been so busy recently! The struggle of doing schoolwork, prioritizing the activities you’ve committed to and maintaining a social life is real. But surprisingly, January went by quite slow for me, which I was fine with, because I know that once March rolls around, the year is going to fly by like it usually does. One of my favorite things that is taking up a good portion of my time is theatre! Shocking, isn’t it?
In Theatre ¾, we are cleaning up and perfecting The Yellow Boat, since show night is only a few weeks away! It’s hard to fathom how close it is, since we’ve been working on this show since October of 2020! The work put in by the Theatre ¾ students surely should not go unnoticed, and one way to ensure that is to watch the show! Plus, don’t forget that this is our Annual Theatre For A Cause show, meaning 100% of our proceeds go to a charity or organization, and this year’s recipient is Children’s Mercy Hospital!
On the main stage, Into The Woods is in full effect. At this time, we are memorized and running through our blocking for the second time, this time around working more on characterization. A lot of people are stepping outside of their comfort zone to create these animated characters, and I’m so excited to see the end result.
In case you didn’t know;
Second Round of Thespian Gear is open now! Closes at midnight on Sunday (February 14!)
The Yellow Boat - February 25, 26, & 27 @ 7pm (Streamed through N2 Sports)
Into The Woods – March 18, 19 & 20 @ 7pm for $15 a night OR $30 for all 3 nights! (Streamed through N2 Sports)
The Scars That Made Us – April 24 @ 7pm (Streamed through N2 sports)

Also, in case you forgot, Valentine’s Day is coming up! Personally, I have always thought that valentine’s day was overrated, and one of the more meaningless holidays. Want to show someone that your grateful for them? Thanksgiving. Want to give a loved one a gift? Christmas. Want to do something meaningful for someone else? Why do you need a holiday for this, why can’t you do this any day (Actually- it might even be moremeaningful if its unexpected!) And of course, gifts and thankfulness aren’t the meaning of those holidays, but just one of my quick reasonings as to why Valentine’s Day is rather pointless. However, I think I might like the decorations for this holiday the most. There’s just something about all the pink and red hearts that just gives me extra serotonin.
Here’s a picture of Reese, Madi and I one day at Into The Woods rehearsal, because we thought our outfits looked all Valentine’s-y. And whether you like or dislike Valentine’s Day, I hope your days ahead are filled with love and gratitude, nonetheless. “Theatre was my first love. I can’t take the theatre out of me. And I wouldn’t want to. To me, it’s home.” -Jim Parsons No If’s or And’s, Only (Hannah) Butts |
